Errors sabotage No. 3 seed Ladybirds in district semifinal loss

WRIGHT CITY — By the time the first inning ended, the North Callaway Ladybirds had allowed six unearned runs to No. 2 seed Warrenton. And it was all that was needed to end No. 3 seed North Callaway’s season in a 6-0 loss in the Class 3, District 7 semifinals Thursday night.

Junior starter Jaida Gray was on the hook for the loss, giving up all six unearned runs on eight hits, three walks and a strikeout in three innings of work. Four of the Ladybirds’ six errors occurred in that first inning and the North Callaway offense scratched together just three hits in the game.
