After giving four years of his time to the Callaway County United Way, Glenn Harris now can say he also helped bring $5,000 to the organization just by being himself.
Harris, the president of the Callaway County United Way Board of Directors, has been named one of 15 Community Heroes by Safeco Insurance Company, an honor that includes a $5,000 donation to the Callaway United Way on Harris’ behalf. Even better, there is a chance to garner even more money for the organization.
From Oct. 8-29, Harris will be facing off against other community heroes in an online grant competition for a grand prize of $10,000 or a runner-up prize of $5,000.
“It would be amazing if Callaway County United Way could receive an additional $5,000 or $10,000,” said Executive Director Kathy Richey Liddle. “That would help thousands and thousands of people through our service agencies. That would be a huge impact for the community.”
Tammy Wickham with Naught-Naught Agency said she nominated Harris for the award after working with him on the United Way board.
“I’ve worked with Glenn on several issues and he has always been very professional, very sincere and genuinely cares about our community,”
