Huddle House on State Road HH in Fulton will be closing Friday. Owner Dick Davis said the restaurant did not do enough business to stay open in that location.

Local fans of the breakfast scrambles and Chop House burgers at Huddle House only have two days left to enjoy their favorite meals before the local franchise closes its doors.

Owner Dick Davis confirmed Wednesday that the Fulton Huddle House will have its last day Friday.

"We are not doing the sales volume we anticipated," Davis said. "We've been very successful with drawing customers off of 54 - we have a lot of regular customers that are driving back and forth from the lake, but unfortunately summer only lasts three months. We can't just live off of (Highway) 54."

He attributed some of the restaurant's problems drawing in customers to its position next to the State Route HH exit off of Highway 54.

"I think that location is probably not as convenient for customers in Fulton to get to," Davis said. "When the owner of that property out there approached me about opening a restaurant ... I didn't think much about driving out that way because I used to live out that way and I drove on HH all the time.

"In retrospect, there's just not enough traffic on HH. When people are going out of Fulton they tend to go toward (routes) H or F, not HH. Two years after we opened we still have people that come in that say they didn't know we were out there."
