Hornets open season with victory in Shaw's debut

Junior forward Dalton Horstmeier knocked down a trio of 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 15 points in the Fulton Hornets' 59-51 win over Bowling Green on Tuesday night in the first round of the Montgomery County Tournament.

No. 2 seed Fulton - playing its season opener - led 31-15 at halftime and was up by as many as 24 points on No. 7 seed Bowling Green in the fourth quarter. Sophomore guard Ricky Dawson finished with 10 points and junior guard Jerome Mandley totaled nine to lead first-year head coach Ryan Shaw to his initial victory with the Hornets.
