Veterans groups contribute to Missouri Veterans Home

Three area Veterans of Foreign Wars posts teamed up to raise money to help buy a handicapped-accessible bus for the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo.

The three veterans groups that raised $1,500 through a raffle and donations were VFW Post 2657 of Fulton, Amvets Post 153 of Mokane, and VFW Post 3772 of Mexico.

Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal organization, donated another $1,500 through the organization's Matching Fund Program.

Also attending the event was Frank Kramer, 86, of Mexico, who has been a resident of the veterans' home during the last year.

"This money will be a great benefit to the home," Kramer said. "We could certainly use a passenger bus for handicapped veterans."
