Three area Veterans of Foreign Wars posts teamed up to raise money to help buy a handicapped-accessible bus for the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo.
The three veterans groups that raised $1,500 through a raffle and donations were VFW Post 2657 of Fulton, Amvets Post 153 of Mokane, and VFW Post 3772 of Mexico.
Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal organization, donated another $1,500 through the organization's Matching Fund Program.
Larry Underwood, senior vice commander of VFW Post 2657 of Fulton, presented a $3,000 check Monday at the Fulton VFW to Susan Paden, supervisor of volunteer services at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico. Also attending the event was Frank Kramer, 86, of Mexico, who has been a resident of the veterans' home during the last year.
"This money will be a great benefit to the home," Kramer said. "We could certainly use a passenger bus for handicapped veterans."
