Paschal defeats Roe to become Assessor

Republican challenger and local businessman Jody Paschal has taken Callaway County's Assessor seat, according to the unofficial final summary reports released from the Callaway County Clerk's office Tuesday night.

Paschal defeated incumbent Democrat Dan Roe, who could not be reached for comment, by about 56.34 percent of the vote to Roe's 43.59 percent, or 6,595 votes to 5,103.

"I think it's fantastic and the voters of Callaway County have spoken, and I think (they) are ready for some new leadership" said Paschal. "I am ready to take that position."

The transition into the public sector as Callaway's chief official responsible for placing value on land parcels and personal property accounts. Previously, Paschal worked at Gidley's Shoe Store for 16 years and has served on various boards and committees in the county, including the William Woods University alumni association, the Fulton Board of Associates and the Mid-Missouri Friends of the National Churchill Museum.
