Callaway County voters Tuesday proved they feel confident in leadership at the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the final unofficial summary report from the county clerk’s office, Democratic incumbent Dennis Crane secured an 11,166 to 6,563 victory over Republican challenger Steve Anderson for the office of sheriff.

“This shows that people don’t look at me and worry about party, it’s about trying to enforce the law,” Crane said, referencing the decidedly pro-Republican results of the majority of the local races in Tuesday’s general election. “I think it’s because people know me and I haven’t gotten stereotyped for any one party. I’ve got a lot of supporters on both sides, and they’ve not made it a partisan issue.

“I truly appreciate the support of the community, and I would remind them that if they have a concern or problem, call and let me know.”
