A Jefferson City man and a Holts Summit woman are in Callaway County Jail after they were arrested for theft of scrap metal from a Mokane area farm.
Arrested were Chad S. Terrell, 28, Jefferson City, and Jessica M. Veltrop, 24, Holts Summit. They were arrested on suspicion of felony stealing.
Both were held in jail on $4,500 bond each.
Deputy Jeff Harding of the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office reported the Sheriff’s Office received a report at 3 p.m. Monday of the theft of scrap meal from a farm on County Road 478 near Mokane.
The owner of the farm with the scrap metal told deputies he confronted two people who were in a red Dodge Dakota pickup truck. The suspects left the area before deputies arrived.
But a vehicle matching the description later was spotted by a Holts Summit Police Officer parked at a gas station in Holts Summit.
Harding said an investigation revealed that the occupants of the vehicle were later identified as Terrell and Veltrop.
Harding said the Sheriff’s Office investigation into the incident is continuing.

God, you gotta love Holts Summit people. We moved out of that area, it had gotten so bad. Five murders, numerous thefts. What cracks me up about this article is that the cop was at the gas station when he spotted the thieves. Isn't he always at the Gas Station? ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
