Lady Owls golf team sits in fourth in NAIA

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The William Woods University Lady Owls were in striking distance of the top after the first day of the 20th-annual NAIA women's golf national championships.

William Woods, led by sophomore Jamie Palermo, was in fourth place in the team standings with a 303 total after Tuesday's first round at Link Hills Country Club. The Lady Owls were five shots behind first-place Shorter (Ga.) with a 298.

Palermo shot an even-par 73, putting her in a seven-way tie for fifth place on the individual leaderboard. Thomas University's Jessica Macphee and Shorter's Pauline Schoop shared first place with a pair of 71s.
