Fulton Red Cross office finds new home

Callaway County residents in search of Red Cross services will no longer find them at the community center in Fulton. The local office now can be found in the Palace Hotel downtown.

"Our lease at the housing authority was not renewed, and we had to find a new place," said Dave Griffith, executive director for the Heart of Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross. "In conversations with David McDaniel, he offered us a really good rate. It's a great location - I love what David has done with the renovations."

The Red Cross office currently is housed in space on the second floor of the historic building, but should be moved into its permanent home in suite 302 within the next month or so.

Griffith said the new office space is not large enough for training, but "we have a good relationship with our faith community," which will provide training space. The leadership council meetings will be held in the office.

He said the operating hours for the new location have not yet been set.

"Our plans are to have staff members or volunteers there at least twice a week," Griffith said. "We're looking at possibly in the fall trying to partner with William Woods and Westminster to get students to come in and man the office for us."
