Bulldogs roll into semifinals

HARRISBURG — Now that they’ve dismissed the defending Class 2 state champion, the South Callaway Bulldogs baseball team is training its focus on taking out the top seed.

Sophomore starter Smith Kemper scattered four hits while a pair of freshmen, Cory Hanger and Trevor Miller, combined to drive in five runs Saturday as No. 4 seed South Callaway demolished No. 5 New Bloomfield 10-0 in five innings in a District 6 first-round game.

The Bulldogs — who also won at New Bloomfield 13-7 on May 4 — raised their season record to 15-5. South Callaway, which manhandled Eugene 14-7 last Tuesday night in Mokane, now moves on to a semifinal showdown against the top-seeded Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
