The William Woods University Lady Owls softball team seemed to be sailing toward a trip to the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament championship.
William Woods sophomore starter MacKenzie Bowden was in charge with a one-hitter and the No. 2 seed Lady Owls owned a 2-0 lead as Wednesday afternoon's game headed to the sixth inning. At that point, No. 3 Park University wrecked William Woods' plans and ended its season.
The Lady Pirates finally broke through against Bowden for three runs in the top of the sixth and then held on for a 3-2 victory over the Lady Owls at Backer Field in the deciding third game of their AMC semifinal series.
