A Fulton High School student was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after assaulting a classmate.
The Fulton Police Department was called to the high school around noon after the principal was notified that one juvenile student had choked another to unconsciousness in a classroom.
"We investigated and found it to be true, and did arrest a young man," Maj. Roger Rice - who also serves as the school resource officer - confirmed. "He came up behind him, grabbed him around the neck and choked him out."
Rice said there were several student witnesses to the incident, as well as a teacher who did not see the attack but did see the victim lying on the floor.
He said he did not have the opportunity to question the victim, who had been taken by his mother to be checked out by a doctor.
