Holts Summit woman charged in stabbing

A Holts Summit woman was charged Wednesday with second-degree assault in connection with a Tuesday afternoon stabbing.

According to court records, Stacy Phelps, 27, went to a residence in the 300 block of Jackson Street around 4:12 p.m. Tuesday, knowing she was going to be in an altercation.

Jefferson City police said Phelps went to the address to retrieve her children who were being watched by family members.

Phelps admitted she was warned before arriving at the scene that a known associate was angry and a fight was going to occur. When Phelps arrived at the residence, she was taken out of her vehicle and the fight ensued.

Police said Phelps used a knife during the fight, causing several severe wounds to Ajia McCray, the primary aggressor. McCray’s injuries were not life-threatening, and she was treated and released from a local hospital Tuesday.
