William Woods punches ticket to NAIA National Tournament with a 72-67 victory over Columbia College

— There was no getting around the Columbia Lady Cougars inbound line defense by the William Woods Lady Owls. So, ahead of the Lady Cougars 70-67 with under 10 seconds left, William Woods opted to go over.

Lady Owls senior forward Megan Aubuchon lobbed a pass over the Columbia College defense that caught senior guard Sharron Andrews in stride, leading to Andrews drawing a foul and scoring a bucket. Andrews missed the free throw but the layup was the decisive blow as No. 2 seeded William Woods outlasted the top-seeded Lady Cougars 72-67 in the finals of the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament at Southwell Complex on Monday night.
