Snuggerud, No. 1 Hope sink Blue Jays

Westminster College freshman guard Verdis Lee was succinct in his acknowledgement.

"That's a helluva game," Lee said as he examined Nate Snuggerud's stat line in the box score at the postgame press conference.

The Blue Jays badgered No. 1-ranked Hope College for the opening 15 minutes of their first-round game in the NCAA Division III men's national tournament, making the Flying Dutchmen fidget before their home fans at DeVos Fieldhouse.

That served as the stimulus to set Snuggerud off.

Hope's 6-foot-5, 225-pound junior forward connected for a career-high 37 points - 25 coming in the second half - and the Flying Dutchmen eventually established control in their 79-65 victory over Westminster on Friday night.
