Account established to benefit Salmons

Family members have established a bank account to help the City of Fulton electric lineman who was injured on the job last week.

Alex Salmons suffered electrical burns while repairing one of the city's substations on June 21, and still is in the intensive care unit at the University Hospital burn center in Columbia.

Salmons' aunt, Sandy Neal, said she established the fund as a response to area residents who wanted to help her nephew.

"There's just been tons of people asking what they can do, and it was suggested to me to start a bank account," Neal said. "The account is set up (at Central Bank) in his name. If anybody has any questions, they can call me."

Deposits can be made at any Central Bank location. Neal said questions can be directed to her at (573) 642-8842.

She also gave an update on Salmons' condition.

"He had some severe burns and has had to have a couple of surgeries on his neck and his right hand," Neal said, noting he should be in the hospital for another two to three weeks. "He's got a long recovery ahead, but he's doing good."
