Prior to the evening storms Saturday, something else rolled through downtown Fulton. Civil War veterans, a Break Time hot dog, classic cars and even a giant game of Angry Birds were just some of the sights fairgoers saw as part of this year's Fulton Street Fair William Woods University Grand Parade.

The parade had 55 entrants this year, which doesn't count the Callaway Cruise-In cars, fire trucks, MoDOT vehicles or other various service vehicles, according to parade organizer Sharon Mather. The parade started at William Woods campus and carried down Court Street before it turned onto Nichols at St. Louis Avenue and ended at 2nd Street.

This year's parade theme was "The Greatest Generation." The 2012 Grand Marshal award, issued to the best overall parade entry, went to Tammy Wickham of Naught-Naught Agency and her husband, Dave, for their float based on the popular touch-screen game, Angry Birds.

Dave Wickham works in construction, and when the couple received a phone call asking them to take part in the parade on Monday, planning began.

"We were discussing as a family what the greatest generation was, and we felt that technology made this generation the greatest," said Tammy Wickham. "We tried to find a fun way to incorporate technology and thought of iPads and iPhones. We figured kids are the target audience in a parade, so we chose Angry Birds to go along with that theme."
