Mule auction big success

Sellers "fetch good prices', buyers pleased

This year's mule auction was a big success, with buyers and sellers coming from far and wide. Overall, more than 20 mules and some fencing found new owners.

Crowds thronged the corral built near Court and Fourth streets Friday afternoon, while owners and riders showed off their stock to interested buyers. One such seller was Bill Moore, who came in from Lebanon to sell two of his mules, stating he "fetched a good price."

Another big buyer was John Perry, who bought one of Moore's mules and about four others. The auction outshone many events in years past, where far fewer animals found buyers.
