2 area men charged with vandalizing four mailboxes

Two young men from southern Callaway County were charged Wednesday with vandalizing four mailboxes Sunday along County Road 419 near Hams Prairie in Callaway County.

Facing four counts each of misdemeanor property damage charges and minors in possession of alcohol are Thomas Buchholz, 18, of County Road 133, Steedman, and Cody Waterson, 18, of County Road 405, Fulton.

At 2:30 a.m. Sunday Callaway County Sheriff's deputies arrested five occupants of a vehicle on charges of minors in possession of alcohol near Hams Prairie.

During the arrest, a deputy observed a baseball bat inside the vehicle. The occupants were asked if they had struck any mailboxes and all denied striking mailboxes.

Later in the day, the Callaway County Sheriff's Office received several reports of mailbox damage from residents along County Road 419 near Hams Prairie.
