A tractor-drawn float makes its way through Millersburg as part of one of the town's Celebration Day parades. This year will feature a hamburger and hot dog dinner, carnival games for kids and door prizes.

In addition to providing the citizens of Millersburg with a parade, a meal, games and door prizes, the 9th annual Millersburg Celebration Saturday might be able to give something back to the community.

The free event accepts donations each year to help cover costs. Celebration Committee member John McCray said that in recent years, the committee has tried to give some of that back.

“We don’t really do this to make money, but we don’t want it to cost us, either,” said McCray. “We’ve let donations we’ve had over our expenses the last couple of years build up, so it’s gotten enough now that we’re hoping to be able to donate.”

McCray said that depending on need and how much is left over, possible donations include a PA system for the Millersburg Lions Club or equipment for the fire department.

This year’s event will kick off with a 10 a.m. parade, beginning at Millersburg Christian Church and includes a veteran’s float for any former or current military veterans. The parade will take State Road J to RA and will end at the Millersburg Lions Club, where the kids games, including a bounce house, a watermelon-eating contest and other carnival events. The potluck lunch will kick off around noon. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided, and the committee asks that diners bring a covered dish to share.
