Mokane AmVets host seventh annual Frogs and Hogs Festival

Food, motorcycles, music and fun.

That is the theme of the 7th Annual Frogs and Hogs Festival and membership recruitment drive in Mokane July 20 and 21.

Hosted by American Veterans and Sons of American Veterans Post 153, the yearly event raises money for area veterans as well as offering two days of free entertainment.

"It's getting bigger every year," said event organizer and Sons of AmVets member Billy Spencer. "This year the Ladies' Auxiliary, the AmVets and the AmVet Riders all are helping to put it on because it's grown so much.

"We have people travel from Illinois and all over to come to this."

At 7 p.m. on Friday there will be a Wing Ding Cook Off, which will include the opportunity for the public to buy the wings. There will be a barbecue pork Saturday, with judging starting at noon and frog legs available starting at 11 a.m.

"The New Breed Motorcycle Club will put on bike games - they'll do a slow ride, they'll have a jousting ring and will be riding around cones - and a bike blessing at 11 a.m.," Spencer said.
