Wednesday last day to register for Aug. 7 primaries

July 11 will be Missouri voters' last chance to register to vote in the upcoming August primary elections.

The primaries, which will allow voters to choose which candidates they want to run on county, state and federal tickets in the general November elections, will be held Aug. 7. County Clerk Denise Hubbard said that it is typical for about 40 to 50 percent of Callaway County's 27,799 registered voters to make it out to their polling locations for these elections.

"As a primary, people will be choosing either the Republican or Democratic ticket," said Hubbard. "The primary is your opportunity to choose which candidate you want to run in the general election."

This year's August primaries will include senator, governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer, attorney general, U.S. representatives, state representatives for districts 43 and 49, county circuit judge, eastern and western commissioners, sheriff, assessor, treasurer and public administrator. Summit and St. Aubert's Townships also have a race for republican committeemen.
