DBRL holds Own the Night Teen Photography Contest

Youth ages 12-18 with an eye for composition are invited to participate in the Daniel Boone Regional Library's Own the Night Teen Photography Contest, running now until July 13.

The contest, open to all teens in Boone and Callaway Counties, centers around nighttime photographs to coincide with the library's teen summer reading theme, Own the Night. Photographs must consist of a nighttime or night-inspired subject, and winners will receive gift cards to Barnes and Noble.

"We're trying to get youth involved in teen programs in the summer," said Sherry McBride-Brown, adult services and youth outreach services librarian at Callaway County Public Library in Fulton. "We try to get youth involved in library programs all over, and teens like photography and are so technologically adept. They use the apps, they use the computer, they know how to generate photos and download them and all these things, so this is a good way to have people who have that skill share their resources."

To help the tornado-stricken people of Dumas and surroundings, donations can be made to the Delta Area Disaster Relief Fund, care of the Delta Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 894, Dumas, AR, 71639, or through the Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 S. Rock St., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
