Summer Fun to follow 11 a.m. July 4 parade

3 p.m. event set at St. Peter Church

Callaway County residents celebrating the nation's birthday on Wednesday will have another patriotic event to attend after the Independence Day parade through downtown Fulton.

The parade, organized by Fulton area veterans groups, will form on 10th Street near the Fulton Country Club. At 11 a.m., the parade will move west along 10th Street and then south on Court Street to 2nd Street at Memorial Park.

After the parade is completed, another event will start later at 3 p.m. when the Fulton Knights of Columbus Council 4454 offers its annual Summer Fun event at the St. Peter Catholic Church, 700 Highway Z in Fulton.

"This is the second year we have really expanded the Summer Fun fundraiser. The Knights of Columbus does not keep the money raised. Half of the money goes to support community organizations like Kingdom Projects and the other half goes to St. Peter Church," said Summer Fun organizer Chris Libbert.

"We will have barbecued hot dogs, hamburgers, brats, and cold soda. We also will have ice cream and popsicles, all at family prices," Libbert said.

"It looks like a full schedule for Independence Day in Fulton. It starts with the parade to honor Callaway County veterans at 11 a.m. After the parade we will have our Summer Fun event at 3 p.m. Then after dark we will have fireworks at the Fulton Country Club as scheduled," Libbert said.
