Aldermen address concerns over neglected homes

AUXVASSE - Two citizens here raised concerns regarding dilapidated houses to the Auxvasse Board of Aldermen Tuesday night.

The citizens requested the board take action to demolish the broken-down homes that remain inside city limits. Board members told the citizens they are working on the problem and are taking steps to remove the houses.

Alderman Terry Walker said it is a slow procedure to have a home approved for demolition, but the city has started that process on three different homes.

Jerry Wilkerson, of Auxvasse, requested a water meter for one of his properties where he has a mobile home. Walker told Wilkerson the city would not provide a meter while it is in a legal dispute with him over an ordinance violation.
