Fulton Lady Hornets head coach TJ Quick sat her team down after the first quarter of their game against the Mexico Lady Bulldogs. The looks on the players' faces and the body language of most of them told her all she needed to know about how the rest of the game was going to go.
And not in a good way.
"We just didn't show up," Quick said. "Mentally, physically, we just weren't there. I could see it after the first quarter, and sluggish would be putting it lightly."
Fulton trailed by just four points after one quarter, but the deficit - along with Quick's frustration - ballooned out even further in the Lady Hornets' 50-43 North Central Missouri Conference loss to rival Mexico on Friday night.
