The Fulton Lady Hornets and the Hannibal Lady Pirates had traded momentum, the lead and turnovers for much of the first three minutes of their North Central Missouri Conference game on Thursday night.

And after a 3-point attempt from Fulton junior guard Stephanie Hughes hit the back iron, was rebounded, put back up, missed and had rolled out toward the Lady Hornets' bench, assistant coach Ashley Windmiller called a timeout with her team down 47-46.

In the nick of time, actually.

"I was just worried she (senior guard Rachel Washington) would get fouled or there'd be a jump ball, and I knew we needed to take control and be on offense for a bit," Windmiller said. "I called the timeout to make sure we stayed composed on offense and got back on defense."

Windmiller's call turned out to be right and effective. Fulton's 9-3 run to close out the game was the difference in a 55-50 win over Hannibal on Thursday night at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.
