Family and friends are hosting a fundraiser for the Shawley family - David, Joy, Kelsey, Jacob and Taylor - Saturday night at the Hatton Hall in Hatton. David Shawley was diagnosed with leukemia in early January.

In the month since he was diagnosed with leukemia, family and friends of David Shawley have been working hard to provide support in whatever way they can.

This Saturday, that support includes a soup and chili dinner fundraiser that features a raffle, a silent auction and music by the Red Hill Bluegrass Band.

"My husband had the idea. He had been praying for a way to help and felt like God told him to do a fundraiser," said LauraNell Kennon, aunt to David's wife, Joy Kennon.

David - father to Kelsey, who turns 8 at the end of February, Jacob, 4 and Taylor, 9 months- was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia after a trip to the emergency room following a week of being sick. He received his first chemo treatment the next day.
