Stephens, Ternes, Unnewehr-Brooks first to enter WWU Hall

It should come as no surprise that Fulton native and Olympic champion Helen Stephens heads up the inaugural class in the William Woods University Athletics Hall of Fame.

The school announced this week its inductees for the Hall's class of 2013. Stephens will be joined by Roger Ternes, a former athletic director and William Woods' winningest coach, and Lana Unnewehr-Brooks - the all-time women's basketball scoring leader.

The trio will be inducted April 20, 2013, as part of the William Woods Alumni Awards ceremony.

"I think Helen, Roger and Lana comprise an excellent inaugural Hall of Fame class," the university's athletic director Jason Vittone said in a press release. "The task of assembling this first class was challenging. William Woods is blessed to have a large pool of quality candidates for this honor.
