On Saturday morning needy Fulton area children will converge on the Walmart Shopping Center in Fulton for the seventh annual Shop With A Cop event.

Local fire and police department volunteers will team up with children and help them shop for Christmas presents.

The goal is to provide families with the opportunity to have a Christmas celebration they otherwise might not be able to afford.

Each child selected previously by social service agencies for the program will receive a $100 Walmart gift card as well as a Christmas stocking from Dollar General that includes toys and well as a gift card to the store.

Instead of buying presents for themselves, some of the participating youngsters use the gift cards to buy gifts for their family or essentials, such as food.
