Callaway County's jobless rate increases

145 lose jobs during July

During July the number of unemployed Callaway Countians increased by 145 as workers without jobs continues to increase in the county and throughout the state.

Statewide, unemployment also is growing rapidly. The number of Missourians counted as unemployed increased 17,518 during July. In July 230,191 Missourians were jobless, increasing from 212,673 in June. The number of Missourians with jobs fell by 27,027 in one month, dropping from 2,832,719 in June to 2,805, 702 in July, according to data provided by the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the U.S. Department of Labor.

Missouri's not-seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased from 7.0 percent in June to 7.5 percent in July.
