Jamboree helps Bulldogs build toward 'marathon'

For South Callaway head football coach Tim Rulo, this was just a preliminary marker in the development of his 2012 Bulldogs.

South Callaway previewed a sample size of the type of squad it hopes to construct for the upcoming season during Saturday night's jamboree scrimmages with host Southern Boone, Hallsville and the Father Tolton/Calvary Lutheran cooperative.

"(These scrimmages) are not about the beginning or the end of our season, this is just one game," Rulo said. "It's more of a marathon of a season with the new playoff system and everything.

"No matter how we do - we know we want to do well, but no matter how well we do, we want to make sure we keep getting better. Because if we go and play our best football and then it's all downhill after week one, well then, what good was that? Who cares?"
