Abbott, Hornets blast Hallsville 14-0

Jake Abbott tried to will the ball over the fence.

Fulton's senior center fielder belted a 1-1 pitch from Hallsville freshman pitcher Lance Leverenz to the warning track, hoping he caught just enough for it to leave the yard.

"Everybody wants to hit the ball over the fence," Abbott said. "I've been in a slump lately, so I was just trying to hit the ball."

Abbott had no such luck with the potential home run, instead settling for his second two-run triple of the game. It was his fourth and final hit for the Hornets as they battered the Hallsville Indians 14-0 in five innings at the high school athletic complex Thursday night.
