Hornets’ offense goes missing in NCMC loss to Hannibal

You can look at the three runs the Fulton Hornets gave up in the sixth inning Thursday night against the Hannibal Pirates and think that was the difference.

And while the final score would indicate that was the case, Fulton head coach Darren Masek believes that everything before and after that inning played just as big a role.

“I would say it was the whole game and the fact that we didn’t put any good at-bats together,” Masek said. “You can say it was the one inning where we gave up three runs, but the bottom line is we didn’t show up today and didn’t have very good approaches at the plate.”

Fulton received a complete-game, six-hit effort from sophomore pitcher Dalton Horstmeier, but the Hornets squeezed out a meager two hits in a 3-0 North Central Missouri Conference loss to Hannibal at the high school athletic complex.
