Trial date set for Plunkett case

Sandra Plunkett, the Holts Summit woman charged with murder in the Jan. 1, 2011, shooting death of her husband, will go to trial Jan. 7, 2013.

The jury will be selected Jan. 4 from a panel of 80 potential jurors in Camden County, before the five-day trial begins three days later in Callaway County. Judge Gary Oxenhandler will preside over the case.

Plunkett is accused of fatally shooting her husband, retired Jefferson City police officer Paul Plunkett, at their Holts Summit home.

She originally told police she was outside her home when she saw a man in camouflage with a gun walking down the street. She said she entered the home and found her husband on the floor, shot in the back of the head.
