Derek Fletcher's sacrifice fly in ninth boosts Owls

The William Woods University Owls leaned on some late-inning dramatics in toppling AMC leader Missouri Baptist University.

Sophomore catcher Derek Fletcher's sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted William Woods to a 4-3 win over Missouri Baptist on Friday night at Owls Field.

William Woods gained a split of the American Midwest Conference doubleheader after being shut out 3-0 in the first game. The Owls - tied with Park University for second place in the AMC - improved to 20-10 overall and 6-4 in the conference. Missouri Baptist is now 22-11 on the season and 11-3 in the AMC.
