Wiecken has been working as an American Red Cross volunteer and as a paid staff member for more than 11 years.

Wiecken received a degree in business management from Columbia College and joined the Red Cross as a volunteer first-aid instructor. Seven years ago Wiecken moved into a Red Cross paid staff position as the emergency services director for Mid-Missouri. She led the local response to Hurricane Katrina, assisting hundreds of people displaced by the storm.

Six years ago she rejoined the health and safety program as the education and marketing director.

A native of Central Missouri, Wiecken has been living in Centralia with her 4-year-old son.
