Swingin' for SERVE on Saturday will not only be the organization's first large-scale fundraiser, it also will be SERVE Executive Director Lisa Brown's good-bye.

Saturday will be Brown's last day at the head of SERVE, Inc. before leaving to assume the position of bureau chief of the Missouri State WIC (Women, Infant, Children) program.

"The big appeal for me is it's an opportunity to affect food and security on a statewide level," Brown said in explanation for her move. "It's going to be an opportunity to take the front-line experience I've gotten here to help people who are struggling and be part of impacting that on a state level."

SERVE board member Jamie Ferrugia said Brown has played an important role in helping promote SERVE and its cause in the Callaway County community.
