Westminster football team blasts Martin Luther

The Blue Jays racked up 472 yards of total offense and notched points in every quarter in a 54-0 throttling of Martin Luther in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

Senior wide receiver Carl Givens caught six passes for 81 yards and two scores and senior running back Zain Gower had 106 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Sophomore quarterback Scott Rodgers completed 13-of-19 passes for 221 yards and four touchdowns and added 59 yards rushing.

The Westminster defense continued its stifling start to the season, allowing just 172 yards of total offense to Martin Luther. The Blue Jays sacked Martin Luther starting quarterback Joseph Lindloff three times and intercepted him twice, resulting in two of the four turnovers forced by the Westminster defense.

The Blue Jays (3-0, 2-0 UMAC) continue league play at Greenville this week. Greenville (0-1) hosted UMAC St. Scholastica on Saturday but results were not available.
