The U.S. Postal Service will have two public hearings Thursday evening in Callaway County on possible closure of post offices at Tebbetts and Steedman.
They are two of the three post offices in Callaway County targeted by the U.S. Postal Service for possible closure before the end of the year. The other one is located in Portland. No public hearing has been set yet on the possible closure of the Portland Post Office.
The public hearing in Tebbetts will be at 6 p.m. in the Tebbetts Community Center. The next public hearing by the Postal Service will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Steedman Methodist Church.
Valerie Welsch, Missouri spokeswoman for the Postal Service, said the hearings will provide an opportunity to residents of each community to meet with a Postal Service official and convey their feelings on possible closure of the post office.
People will be able to let the Postal Service know how it would affect them, their business, and the community if the office is closed.
