Lady Wildcats take it to Wellsville in five-inning win

WELLSVILLE - The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats picked up their fourth win of the season with an 11-1, five-inning triumph over Wellsville on Tuesday night. Senior starter Mikayla Litty went the distance, giving up one earned run on three hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

New Bloomfield (4-5) scored four runs in the second inning, a frame led off by a single from senior Chelsea Wiler. Wiler advanced to second on a double by Litty and then scored on a single from freshman Taylor Howard.

Howard and senior pinch runner Jessie Hazelhorst scored on a bases-clearing triple from sophomore Mikayla Steele, and Steele scored on a groundout by sophomore Mary Jeffries.

Wiler, Litty, Jeffries and Steele each went 2-for-3 from the plate on the day. Jeffries and Steele both had a pair of RBI, along with junior Allison Werderhausen. Litty slapped a double and a grand slam in the third inning to plate Wiler, senior Kelsey Jaegers and freshman Mykaela Bonnett. Bonnett, Steele, Wederhausen and Jeffries each had a double.

The Lady Wildcats also won the junior varsity game 8-5. Wederhausen was 3-for-3 with a double and freshman Marissa Beavers was 1-for-2 with a double.

New Bloomfield hosts Calvary Lutheran at 5 p.m today.
