Hornets open at home with backup QB

Fulton Hornets senior quarterback Jake Matthews spent most of the second half of last week's opener at the School of the Osage trying to get some sort of a good feeling back in his throwing shoulder.

The starting signal caller came down hard on the shoulder late in the second quarter of the Hornets' 54-0 loss to the Indians.

And at least for this week, the sidelines are where he will remain. Matthews has a slightly separated right shoulder according to Fulton head football coach Pat Kelley, and will sit out tonight's home and North Central Missouri Conference opener against the Boonville Pirates. Kickoff is set for 7 at Robert E. Fischer Stadium.
