Hornets close out, finally reap offensive benefits

Most weeks this season, the Fulton Hornets football team found itself on the short side of a lopsided score.

This was a Fulton team that gave up 40 or more points eight times this season and hadn't scored more than 14 points in any of its nine games played.

But for once, the Hornets got the chance to pour it on. Fulton ended a tough, and at times brutal, 2011 campaign with a 47-13 Class 3, District 6 win over Missouri Military Academy on Friday night.

The Hornets (2-8, 1-2) broke that two-touchdown barrier on its second possession, getting into the end zone on each of its first three offensive series to jump out to a 20-0 lead over the Colonels (2-8, 0-3).
