Hoo-Var's is back in business.

With a new location, new look and new merchandise, Hoo-Vars opened its doors on Oct. 14. Owner Brenda Hoover is running the women's clothing store, located at 17 W. Fifth St. in downtown Fulton. Hoover's husband, Larry, ran the old Hoo-Var's, which used to be on Court Street.

Hoover, of Fulton, said she decided to open the store because she loves clothing and thought it would be a good retirement activity. She sells women's and juniors' clothing, purses, coats, scrubs, jewelry and shoes. Hoover said the former store sold pricey, designer clothes and purses. The made-over Hoo-Var's offers more everyday, casual clothes with a "more contemporary" look, she explained. The old store closed after about a year, but Hoover decided to keep the same name - a twist on the couple's last name.
