Pierce’s hat track sparks Hornets’ shutout win

KIRKSVILLE — The Fulton Hornets soccer team tacked on five first-half goals in disposing of North Central Missouri Conference foe Kirksville 6-0 on Thursday night.

Senior forward Jake Pierce produced a hat trick, with all three of his goals coming in the first half.

“He’s been our go-to guy and the hat trick just proved that,” Fulton head coach Brad Oestreich said.

Pierce opened the scoring with a goal 1 minute, 12 seconds into the match on an assist from senior defender Morgan Milligan. His second score came in the 28-minute mark on an assist from junior midfielder Jakob Hull, and Pierce’s final goal was off another assist by Milligan in the 32nd minute.

Junior midfielder Zach Thomas also scored in the first half and sophomore forward Trevor Neal added a pair of goals, leading to senior goalkeeper Sam Mayne’s shutout win. Mayne finished with seven saves.
