A former corrections officer at the Callaway County Jail charged with assault for using pepper spray on an inmate pleaded guilty to the charge Monday.
More than a year after he was charged with third-degree assault, JD Nodine, 31, of New Bloomfield, agreed to a plea bargain and was found guilty of the charge and fined $300 plus court costs. The case was slated for a jury trial Thursday but was closed after Nodine and his attorney reached an agreement with the state counsel, Special Prosecutor Robert Ahsens, during a pre-trial conference on Monday.
