Lady Owls volleyball team reaches AMC semifinals

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The fifth-seeded William Woods University Lady Owls volleyball team reached the semifinals of the AMC postseason tournament by toppling No. 4 Williams Baptist College 25-15, 21-25, 30-28, 19-25 and 15-9 on Tuesday night.

Senior middle blocker Alicia Green recorded 27 kills to guide William Woods (15-20), which dropped both of its regular-season meetings against Williams Baptist (27-8). Junior setter Sarah Wehmeyer accumulated 52 assists, while junior defensive specialists Amanda Henley and Emily Nolte logged 24 and 19 digs, respectively.

The Lady Owls now move on to a confrontation at top-seeded and No. 3-ranked Columbia College (34-2) in the American Midwest Conference semifinals at 7 tonight. William Woods lost both of its regular-season matchups against Columbia. The Lady Owls bowed 25-10, 25-15 and 24-13 on Oct. 15 in Columbia, and 25-19, 25-17, 22-25 and 25-19 on Oct. 28 in Fulton.

In tonight's other AMC semifinal, No. 2 seed Missouri Baptist University (33-4) hosts No. 3 Park University (22-10).
