ARC volunteers travel to Joplin to aid tornado victims

Two trained Red Cross volunteers from Holts Summit are staffing the emergency response vehicle (ERV) used by Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross for disaster relief duties to aid victims of last Sunday's deadly tornado in Joplin.

The multipurpose vehicle was driven by them to Joplin.

Another ERV from the Red Cross Mid Mo office in Columbia was driven to Joplin and staffed by two Mexico, Mo., residents.

Mike Flanagan, Capital Area Chapter communications director, said in all seven volunteers from the chapter have deployed to Joplin. "Their deployment will last at least two weeks," Flanagan said.
