Wildcats' quarterfinal delayed again

The New Bloomfield Wildcats baseball team's postseason pursuits were put on hold again by the weather.

New Bloomfield's Class 2 baseball quarterfinal against visiting Elsberry was postponed Thursday for the second straight day due to wet field conditions. The two teams will try again to get the playoff game in at 5 p.m. today.

The Wildcats (17-4) reached the quarterfinals with a 12-2 blitz of Brentwood in a sectional game Tuesday in St. Louis. Elsberry (14-7) advanced with a 9-0 sectional victory over Schuyler County on Tuesday.

Tonight's winner moves on to the Class 2 final four June 1-2 at Meador Park in Springfield. The New Bloomfield-Elsberry winner will face either Charleston (15-9) or Valle Catholic (22-5) in a Class 2 semifinal at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1.
